Class 4: John Muir Award

In 2014, Class 4 acheived their John Muir award with thanks to funding from The Meres and Mosses Landscape Partnership Scheme.

The John Muir Award has a huge emphasis on outdoor learning. It encourages us to become aware and responsible of nature through fun activities where we can explore, discover, conserve and share.

During our John Muir Award, we worked closely with Shropshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB. During the visits, we discovered the Mere and Mosses landscape by visiting Wood Lane Nature Reserve, Whixall Moss, Marbury Farm and Bickley Farm. While we at at these places we had the opportunity to explore the environment, learn about the natural world, enjoy fresh air, get exercise and develop new skills outside the classroom.

When we completed our John Muir Award, we held a celebration ceremony and shared what we had learnt about The Meres and Mosses Landscapes with our parents and the rest of the school.
